- Abstract
In the article authors consider influence of Leninism on formation of the social system existed in the USSR. They interpret this system as a special Soviet civilization. It was distinguished not only by socio-economic and political order based on state owned economy and the Communist party’s monopoly on power but declared value system, which had to determine the individual’s relationship with surrounding world and society. These values were proclaimed equality, liberty, fraternity and universal happiness. Lenin believed that the liberation of the people from private capitalist exploitation would itself lead to creation of a society of universal happiness based on free creative work, social equality and solidarity of free people. However, when faced with unwillingness of society to accept his social ideal, with problems caused by social and cultural backwardness of Russia, Lenin revised his previous positions. He made a bid on a state violence. Lenin began to see it as the only way to build a society of universal happiness. This was one of the reasons for the failure of the new civilization project. The declared values were never put into practice. Another reason why these values turned into their opposite was the failure and utopianism of the project of Soviet civilization itself
