- Abstract
- From the perspective of historical poetics, the article compares two novels: Anna Karenina by L.N. Tolstoy with Madam Bovary by G. Flaubert. There analyzed the attitude of both authors towards certain realistic concept of existential-and-moral “all-human norm”, towards the role of “true” and “false” Romanticism as viewed by the heroines of the novels. The two authors’ relation to Pre-Modernism is considered.
