- Abstract
- The article is concerned with the innermost quality of Bunin's poetics, that is - if compared to the previous literary tradition - his ability to marry the flexible and capacious poetic form with the polemic dialogism. By turning to his short stories, one of which was written during Bunin's first year in emigration, and the other - one month before the end of the 2nd World War, we get a chance to probe into the specifics of Bunin's poetics, to trace its development and operation in his later novellas. Detecting the literary sources in the structure of his short stories on love widens the scope of the artistic and philosophical understanding of Bunin's masterpieces, provides insight into their generic nature, and enriches the literary-and-historical commentary on Bunin's works.
