- Abstract
- The article considers the epoch of initial verbal exploration of the realities of the New World. The process of naming is consistent with the overall process of generating symbolic meanings and symbolic values with the peculiarities of formation and development of tradition in Latin America. Author reconstructs different naming strategies and the dynamics of their attachment to the structure of Latin American cultural consciousness and subconsciousness. Characteristics of name understanding in Latin American artistic and philosophical refl ection are compared with typical for the naming sphere ‘tense’ connection between the polar opposites of the archaic and the modern.
