- Abstract
- The reminiscences describe a singular destiny of a bright and extraordinary woman, Ekaterina Pavlovna Maykova (1836–1920), a daughter-in-law of the poet A.N. Maykov, the critic V.N. Maykov and the Academician L.N. Maykov. I.A. Goncharov used Ekaterina as the prototype of Vera, the heroine of his novel “The Precipice”. V.I. Dmitrieva (1859–1947) is a writer of the Narodnik orientation and the author of several once-popular writings for children and adults. The reminiscences (from the State Literary Museum archive) are published for the first time.
