- Abstract
- The article discusses the functioning of monument and carnival motives in the works of Sigizmund D. Krzhizhanovsky, who adhered to the St. Petersburg mentality. In accordance with V.N. Toporov’s theory, Krzhizhanovsky’s “Moscowian prose” is grouped here with the “Petersburgean” texts of Russian literature. Also, the article explores connections between the carnivalesque imagery in Krzhizhanovsky and the carnival theory of M.M. Bakhtin.
