- Abstract
- The article deals with folk narratives of saints' lives. The paper analyses mechanisms of originating of folk hagiographical texts, taking into account actual interdependence of oral legends and published lives, the ways and reasons by which episodes of saints' lives are introduced into folklore as well as principles of their adaptation to new forms of existence. A conclusion is drawn that changing their mode from the book form to the oral one hagiographical texts are - to a certain extent - "folklorised".
