- Abstract
- The paper analyses semantic structure of Russian "anecdote" (popular joke) within the framework of Construction Grammar. It is argued that the comic effect is often due to the violation of some non-trivial constructional rules. Therefore, the study of anecdotes can shed new light on the semantics of Russian constructions and contribute to a better understanding of linguistic aspects of humour.
