- Abstract
- The article considers the genetic history and philosophical/moral issues of one of the most puzzling plays of Gorky. The set of ideas in the "Old Man" drama and its socio-historical meaning are brought into relief when placed into the historical/literary context of the Revolutionary epoch and weighed against other contemporaneous compositions of the author.
