- Abstract
- Two small dramatic fragments written in the summer of 1917 expressed Pasternak's keen and profound historical understanding of events, their perspective and their meaning embracing both the Great French revolution at the end of the 18th century and the Russian revolution which he witnessed. The maturity of the poet's historical outlook is attested by a book of poems that was being composed at that time, My Sister Life, as well as by a number of later works.
