Abstract
The article presents an analysis of French literary and historical contexts of Pushkin's "Ode to Liberty" which is necessary for an adequate interpretation of most difficult points of the text. It deals, in particular, with various aspects of the theme of Clio with an address to whom the poem opens, with echoes of "Les Templiers", a tragedy by Franзois Renoir, as well as with events of the Aachen Congress that are reflected in the last stanza of the ode.
