Abstract

With this article, the author continues further work on the study of American-German relations. These relationships play an essential role for the United States, «heir to comprehensive strategic guarantees», because they can solve «the problem of strategic overstrain» in Europe. This relationship must be understood in the context of the growing influence of China and the changing role of the European Union. The author analyzed the most common views in the FRG scientific community on the transatlantic partnership, on the role of the United States in the formation and development of the policy of the West German state and the united Germany and came to the conclusion that there is no systematic understanding of how, when and why the developed rules were updated. The author believes that raising problematic issues can deepen the understanding of the nature of allied relations and the Western version of multilateralism. A special place in the article is occupied by the study of the positions of the country's leading political parties on future relations with the United States. The author considered three variants of party positions.

The article also notes an important trend - the intermediary function of the Federal Republic of Germany. The author believes that the elites of the FRG understand the inevitability of responsibility and obligations regarding lobbying issues of interest to Americans in the European Union.
