- Abstract
- The article covers current practices of so called “advance directives”, e.g. legally drawn will of the subject concerning his/her medical treatment under emergency situations depriving him/her possibilities to express wishes competently. This especially applies to use of life support techniques in case of the stable vegetative state. Moral, legal and anthropological dimensions of the “advance directives” practices are discussed in the perspective of “Care of Self” concept by M. Foucault.
