- Abstract
- The phenomenon of angst is interpreted as a fundamental anthropological state, as a way of one’s knowledge of oneself particularly implemented in the space of art. Such species of fear as ontological horror and existential anxiety get analysed for they induce an ‘estrangement effect’, bring on a dramatic experience of alienation of the familiar and thereby hearten to cre ate images. An artistic modelling of the existential experience in its variety of semantic and plastic forms is showed though the works of painting, literature, and cinema.
