Abstract
Some important cultural phenomena in European history are considered in psychoanalysis perspective, those being: Doomsday anticipation, witch hunting and witch trials, socialist utopia, as well as their antipodes: eternal corporal life idea, rationalistic detection of the truth and liberal utopia. All those are considered to be a kind of cultural phantasms and "counter-phantasms". The difference between "phantasm" as a term of psychoanalysis and "fantasy" is explained.
