Abstract
The article recaptures the history of relations between Boris Pasternak and Mikhail Malishevsky, wto is remembered in the history of literature as a researcher of the verse rather than as a poet. However, in the 1950s Malishevsky published his own poems; he was inventor of a new literary genre, a cross between a parable and a fable (“skirl”). Pasternak was familiar with Malishevsky. The article attempts to reconstruct the possible history of their acquaintance. In 1929 Pasternak was one of those whom Malishevsky approached for a letter of recommendation for The Writer’s Union - he wanted to publish a collection of his poems. Pasternak granted this request for a number of reasons. We offer here the first publication of this letter, which was found in the archives, belonging to The A.M. Gorky Institute of the World Literature of the RAS.
