Abstract
The article deals with lexicographic projects, old and recent, which have aspired to reflect the national language in all its stylistic and styled manifestations, i.e. proceeding from the idea of the dictionary-thesaurus. Our inference is that, for the time being, no dictionary represents Russian language entirely enough, and various attempts of academic dictionaries to combine descriptive and prescriptive principles when accounting for the vocabulary are, in reality, contradictory. The author offers, as an alternative, the idea of creating an electronic “card” catalogue (e-files) of lexemes of the Russian language, which would capture all its elements with utter completeness, operativeness (neologisms), with inclusion of hyperlinks, as following the model of the “General Dictionary of the Modern Russian Language”.
