Abstract
The article offers a perspective view and assessment of the fundamentals of the poetics of Fyodor Sologub, a leading Russian symbolist of the elder generation. There attempted a reconstruction of the mythological-and-symbolic system (on which the writer's set of designs are based), of the inherent semantic paradigm, and of some mechanisms of adaptation and rethinking of the voices of “the cultural other”. For our analysis we consider the poetic heritage of the writer, his works on criticism and theory, his novels Bad Dreams and The Petty Demon.
