- Abstract
- In Shklovsky’s early work ‘The Relation of Devices of Plot Construction to General Devices of Style’ (1919) there are lots of quotations from ‘The Russian Oral Literature’ (1917) by Mikhail N. Speransky. Shklovsky extensively referred to this book, because Speransky’s approach to the poetics of folklore texts and his thoughts on the process of such texts’ coming into being gave Shklovsky a handle to build new original structures and hypotheses.
