Abstract
The article brings to light those facts in the history of relations of Ossip Mandelshtam, Boris Pasternak, Demyan Bednyy, Ilya Selvinsky, as well as those of the German writer Lion Feichtwanger, with Soviet state and party leaders that have been either unknown or inadequately studied yet. A closer connection between particular – seemingly disconnected – episodes of social and literary life of the period is established. Recently published documents from Stalin’s archive are used as well as materials from Party archives and a private archive of Lazar Kaganovich.
