Abstract
The article dwells on discussions of Symbolism in the French and Russian literatures, which took place in the Studio Franco-Russe (Paris, 1929-1931). The author offers rationale for fundamental divergences between the Russian and the French reception of Symbolism, which sprung from the differences in cultural traditions. He also compares the theoretical statements made by the Studio participants to the Belle epoque Modernist theories, as well as to the present-time scholarly conceptions of the typology of Symbolist literatures.
