- Abstract
- The paper is based on the shorthand record of the defence of N.P. Antsiferov's dissertation "Problems of Urbanism in Russian Literature" (1944). Besides information concerning its conception and development, the paper includes facts related to essential problems of literary criticism and the reception of the dissertation by the scholarly community. Perspectives of the topos-oriented historial methods devised in the dissertation are described for the first time. The article is founded on previously unknown documents of the scholar's biography, his pedagogical and guiding-tours activities as well as those in the field of regional studies deposited in the archives of St.-Petersburg and Moscow.
