- Abstract
- The paper regards the evolution of the verb признаюсь [‘p riznáyus ' and ‘ priznayús ' – ‘I confess', ‘to tell the truth', ‘in short'] in terms of accent, tense, and aspect categories (from the present imperfective to the future perfective), as the verb appears in discourses and in dictionaries of 19 th–21 stcent.This study confirms the idea that selection of aspect and tense depends on certain specifics of lexical semantics and discourse tactics.
