- Abstract
- The paper discusses the authorship of the fairy-tale “The Little Humpbacked Horse” (“Konyok-Gorbunok”). There have been analysed over a hundred various linguistic features typical of the Pskov and neighbouring dialects, which mark the first published version of the fairy-tale. On this basis, it is argued that P. Yershov washardly the author of the tale, because his native Tobolsk dialect lacks the discussed features. It is further argued that the real author of the tale might be A.S. Pushkin, who was quite familiar with the Pskov dialects and used Pskovian dialectisms in much of his work. This research provides fi rm evidence of Pushkin’s authorship of the first edition of “Konyok-Gorbunok”.
