- Abstract
- The article deals with an instance of systemic metaphor, namely, with metaphoric microsystems (complexes) that appear when different metaphoric names which belong to one thematic sphere are ascribed to interrelated, contiguous denotations (i.e., objects of nomination), or to the same denotation. The paper is based on metaphoric words stemming from kinship terms in a variety of Slavic languages and dialects. Functional, semantic, motivational and structural features of metaphoric microsystems are elucidated. Such parameters as the nature of denotations and relations between them; domain of metaphoric-complexes functioning; formal expression of the elements of the aforementioned complexes; nomination pragmatics (speaker's point of view); specific characteristics of relations among elements of the complexes are considered.
