- Abstract
- “The great force of artistic generalization” (Vladimir Solovyov), which distinguishes Goncharov's epic, gave rise to vast spatial novelistic images; namely, the “beauteous land” of Oblomovka, the St. Peterburg apartment of Ilya Ilyitch, the cottage of Pahenitsyna, etc. The article spells out the individual semantics of such images, each of which is linked up with the artistic whole.
