- Abstract
- The paper deals with problems of the threshold and the “man of threshold” whish are essential to the poetics of Gogol’s “Dead Souls”. A special attention is paid to functions and the semantics of the threshold and specific features of the behaviour of the “man of the threshold”. The interrelation between such aspects of the narrative in the “Dead Souls” as the crossing of the threshold or execution of difficult tasks, a choice of the right or wrong way, the descent and ascent is highlighted.
