- Abstract
- This article reviews Vladimir M. Alpatov's book containing biographies of twenty scholars proficient in linguistics, Oriental studies, and history. Their fates and lives are inseparable from the history of the Soviet and Russian society. This book makes significant contribution to the history of the Russian humanitarian studies; however, it contains some disputable points, as, perhaps, each text resonating with its author's presence, does.
