Abstract
The article continues a series of studies devoted to the reconstruction of the original Early Slavic text of the Canon to Cyril the Philosopher and its hypothetical Greek model. The analysis of Ode IV confirms the thought conjectured in our previous article concerning the translational nature and heterogeneity of the troparia forming the odes of the Canon. Here we examine new data, which makes it evident that each ode was composed by taking two individual troparia to Constantin-Cyril and adding to them a theotokion and a third troparion. The latter, originally, had nothing to do with honoring of the newly-celebrated saint and even might have been modeled on a different irmos (much like the theotokion), but later it got to reflect the stichometry of the given ode.
